As the UX Director for eBay’s Home & Garden vertical, you will be at the forefront of crafting the future of this critical eCommerce touchpoint. Collaborating with leaders from various fields, you will support cross-functional teams, coach and develop Product Design talent, and enhance execution, operational maturity, and team health. Working with our dynamic and ambitious cross-functional teams, you will have the opportunity to reinvent the social, mobile, and local commerce landscape on a grand scale, addressing exciting new business opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Manages product designers within the Home & Garden vertical, working with other Design leadership to ensure a cohesive user-experience across the product portfolio
Leads in the Creative Direction and manages the execution of product design work across the team
Develops effective design approaches for surfacing user needs, exploring potential solutions, delivering useful design deliverables, and synthesizing design work into systems of reusable components
Inspires and coaches cross-functional product teams to identify and validate user problems, produce inventive and thoughtful solutions for users that also work for the business, and ship to market meaningful product updates that deliver tangible results
Contributes to departmental planning and budgeting, helps shape and implement team priorities, and supports project deadlines
Demonstrates thought leadership in the e-commerce space, works to evolve our people management practices, and cultivates the professional development of Product Design reports
Requirements:
BS Degree in interaction design, HCI, industrial design, graphic design, visual communications or equivalent
10-15+ years of professional experience in Product Design
8+ years of professional experience managing Product Designers
Experience driving product design for end-to-end projects and a strong understanding of user-centered design processes in agile, cross-functional teams
Proactive collaborator and communicator with a track record of anchoring teams and building strong, cross-functional partnerships
Hands-on experience in new product and concept development, including generative research, storyboarding, user-journey mapping, competitive analysis, prototyping, qualitative interviews and quantitative testing
Ability to synthesize together industry trends, internal and third-party research, team insights, business priorities and partner feedback into actionable UX strategy and design priorities
