You’ll be working on the core of our product: the item recognition. This task is more challenging than it may appear, as the visioncheckout must accurately detect and classify items with significant variation in just a few milliseconds, often relying on a single training sample. Your contributions to our algorithms, models, lifecycle architectures and tooling will directly impact the “magic” of the visioncheckout and, consequently, its widespread adoption globally.

Tasks

• As part of our interdisciplinary product team, you will work on various ML/Computer Vision related tasks and projects with a common goal: Increase the success of our customers by improved accuracy, speed, and user experience. This will include but not be limited to topics like object detection, segmentation, classification, online learning, one-shot learning, and multi-camera image processing.
• You will have end-to-end responsibility for the development of new features – from requirements analysis to deployment.
• You will review the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning research and leverage state-of-the-art techniques to enhance our product.
• By conducting code reviews, you will ensure high software quality, gain in-depth insights into projects of other team members, and continuously improve your own coding skills.

Requirements

• You have a strong foundation of machine learning and computer vision techniques.
• You have proficiency in Python and hands on experience with Deep Learning Libraries (such as PyTorch, Tensorflow or Keras).
• You have in-depth knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, and testing.
• Your strengths include a structured and independent work approach, analytical thinking, effective communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team.
• You have a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• You have gained relevant work experience, either through more than one year of full-time employment or relevant internships/student positions.
• You have a valid work permit for Germany and have fluent proficiency in the German language.
