Job Beschreibung: The Role

As a Senior Data Scientist / Applied Machine Learning Engineer, you will use your skills to design and implement the advanced machine learning services that will power our internal Material Science Platform.

This role reports to Marta Rodriguez, Head of Software and Data, and has as key stakeholders other data and software engineers, as well as team members throughout the company.

Given the remote first nature of our team, this role can be based anywhere but willing to work approx UTC/UTC+1 core hours, in order to overlap with the bulk of our European based team.

Develop our core machine learning services

Design, develop and implement end-to-end ML projects (NLP, LLMs, Predictive modelling) to establish our core ML platform

Evaluate the performance of machine learning models using appropriate metrics and fine-tune them to achieve optimal results.

Document the design, development, and deployment processes of machine learning models.

Coordinate ML requirements with stakeholders

Surface requirements to other teams (data engineers, domain experts and software engineers) to ensure data harvesting and processing aligns with our ML needs

Give guidance to other team members on data-management and processing best practices.

Be our ML champion

Stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP and LLM research and apply them to improve the performance of our models.

Use your knowledge to guide the development of our ML strategy.

Who you are

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field

5+ years of experience developing and implement machine learning models

Experience with Deep Learning or LLMs is a plus

Experience developing and deploying machine learning models in production (end to end development)

Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, familiarity with the usual ML stack

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote set up

Experience implementing and coordinating with domain experts in multifunctional environments

Experience spearheading ML and data-heavy projects

Fluency in English, as this is our working language

There will be three interview stages:

Introduction call with VP People – to share more about one.five and how we work & find out how that meets your experience and expectations of the role

Technical interview with Head of Software & Data – to dig into the day to day of the role more and answer any questions you may have for us. You will also be asked to present a short demo of an ML project at this stage.

Meet the team interview with selection of Data Engineers & Software Developers – introduction to key stakeholders in the business and build your understanding of your future function
