YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Description:
In the area of autonomous driving, object detection is one of the primary and essential tasks. For object detection, camera still remains the most used perception sensor. For the real-world applications, the performance of a given object model is dependent upon the training and validation data i.e. quality (labelling accuracy, diversity, balanced representation of various classes) and quantity (the distribution should be a representation of real-world or at least the test data), and, also, upon the underlying algorithms via which the model learns to extract features from the training data so that the model parameters adjusted/tunned in the right direction. This being the case, it is often observed that not every data sample of training data contributes equally during training. And this gives us an opportunity to investigate as how to select the most informative samples from the training data. Research community recognizes this approach of model training as Active Learning (AL).
2-3 month full-time internship before the start of the Master’s thesis.
Tasks:
- Investigating the state-of-art methods for Active Learning approaches
- Visualization of training, validation and test dataset distribution
- Developing algorithms to harness the intermediate/final model outputs for AL
- Developing an end-to-end pipeline for the model training and evaluation
- Documentation of the applied concepts and results achieved
YOUR PROFILE:
- Studies in the field of Computer Science, Robotics, Information Technology or comparable
- Basic knowledge in the field of AD/ADAS
- Basic knowledge of Machine Learning
- Good programming knowledge of Python with prior experience with libraries such as numpy, pandas, scipy, seaborn and matplotlib
- Prior experience in using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as VS Code, PyCharm, Spyder, etc.
- Prior experience with working in Python’s virtual environment or Conda
- First experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
- First experience with Linux, version control system such as git, GitLab or GitHub
- English skills (fluent)
- Working practices and personality: passionate, well-organized and structured, goal-oriented, ability to find solutions and work independently, ability to communicate with other team members
- Note: You are encouraged to share your GitHub/HackerRank/LeetCode/Kaggle (also other coding platform) profile, if applicable
- Personality is more than anything!

- Docker, Mlflow or Tensorboard
- Skills for Web-Tooling Apps: Django, Javascript, Bokeh, Plotly
- Skills for documentation: Latex
